This newer "Universal" Air Distribution Box by Dometic has manual control knobs on it for you to control your non-ducted rooftop air conditioner without the use of a wall thermostat.
A heat strip (part #3314998.000) can be used with this ceiling assembly as long as the air conditioning unit you are using this ceiling assembly with is able to add a heat strip.
