Dometic RGE400 Refrigerator (Lower) Door Gasket

This gasket kit is near unobtainium. That Dyer’s chooses to represent Dometic is a huge credit to them. At that point, things begin to break down.
Dyer’s doesn’t stock this item, so is at the mercy of Dometic who is the supplier.
These specific kits don’t see much traffic, and the refrigerators are often installed in remote locations. Credit to Dometic for selling the gasket as a kit - and they really have to, because the way the refrigerator is assembled at the factory, it cannot be readily disassembled the same way, so in effect, replacing the gasket is a modification of removing the part of the old gasket that is above the plastic liner, then taping a new-design gasket to the flat of the liner, presenting the same gasket face and fit to the door in the end, but requiring some surgery. In the event, the kit supplied had obviously been stored for a long time, as the included tube of sealant required to seal gaps in the applied tape (if applied correctly) was completely hardened in the tube, and thus useless. I contacted Dyer’s about the matter, was told the kit was drop shipped, and they would check with Dometic “to see what they wanted to do. Days have gone by with no updates . . . pretty poor customer service on both companies’ parts. Still not fixed as of this writing. That they have it at any price is positive. As expensive as it is, you don’t have to be happy about it. But if you have to have it, you’ll bend over.
