Dometic Left Hand Standard Duty Awning Torsion Assembly

Generally pleased. I noticed, though, that my old one had a solid aluminum stabilizer on the end that goes into the roller tube while the new one was plastic and kept falling off. I transplanted the aluminum to the new one.

The direction arrows for winding made no sense. The arrows for right and left end pointed the same direction and reverses depending which side of the shaft the casting was folded over to. They make sense only when the casting is turned across the end of the shaft forming a ‘T’ with it.

Finally, newer rollers apparently have a notch in the end. There was a key inside the round end casting that needs to be broken out to fit older rollers. This was in the instructions, but took a while to find.

We replaced the fabric as well as both torsions. There were cotter pins in the package with the fabric that are extremely useful when installing the left torsion as they keep the spring from unwinding. It would be better if they had been packaged with the torsion.
