Expensive but necessary

After three years with my Splendide washer and dryer it was time to change the yucky seal in the washing machine. We had to find a video on YouTube to see how it's done. I don't recall seeing any kind of instructions in the packaging. The product does have a strong chemical odor, I'm hoping that will go away over time. But most importantly it does what it is intended to do, it fits perfectly and I appreciate the company taking the extra step with an email to verify they were sending the correct part for my machine. I'm hoping to prevent needing a new one in the future by thoroughly drying the washing machine seal with a hand towel after I am done with laundry each day as this part is quite expensive.

Bought a replacement door seal/gasket for our Splendide washer, as the old one was covered in mold growth. Dyers followed up the order with a request for model and serial number to verify proper fitment. Nice touch! YouTube University taught me the skills to replace the gasket in about 15 minutes, using only a butter knife (I kid you not). Installing a new gasket is aided by a few drops of Dawn. The process was so easy, that I now remove the gasket and hand clean it when the washer prompts to run the cleaning cycle (about every 25 loads). It might be overkill, but hand washing removes all of the old detergent and fabric softener that wasn't used during the previous cycles.
