Good unit with limited range

I've used this unit twice and I can say it is very useful as long as you can get the signal to reach the receiver and have a surface that the magnetic base of the camera will stick to. The signal strength is not very high, so where you place the transmitter (camera) can make a big difference. The first time I used it, I had it low on the tailgate and the image was very poor. The second time, I had it mounted high so that the antenna was just above the tailgate. These were on a Honda Ridgeline. I've not had a chance to try this on a pickup with a camper installed which I suspect will be problematic. Build quality seems pretty good. I was surprised to find that both the camera and the receiver work off of internal batteries so they don't need to be plugged in to work. The description on the website said that the receiver was powered by a 12V lighter connection but it really is just charged that way. The charging cable will charge both units at the same time and there was a video cable supplied to use an external monitor. The video reversing switch will allow you to use this as a normal video monitor.
