This insert trim is the exact same trim that was original to my 1968 travel trailer. Just pull off the old hardened trim from the aluminum. Take a small pick and clean the grooves out. Put a dab of silicone on the end of the aluminum. Then insert the trim into one side of the groove, for about 5-6" then squeeze the trim and let it drop into the other side.

If it gets stuck and doesn't want to set into the grooves, just take flat screw driver and insert it into the groove above the damaged area and twist it gently. this will open the groove up again. Slowly work your way through the bad area, until the trim slips into place. If you get a pucker spot, just take your pick and work it into the groove. Some times the screw head grabs it, so you have to take the pick and pull it away of it.

When your done. Just place a dab of silicone on the closing end, trim to length and finish tucking it into the groove.

Now you can stand back and admire your handy work. Maybe even call a neighbor over so they can see also. Heck why not throw a quick party so everyone can enjoy it. Then when they leave you can start on the rest of the trim.
