Horrible quality control and shipping packaging.

I ordered and received the Barker White VIP 3,500lb Extended Power Jack. The order was confirmed promptly and was received faster than I expected.
However the package was shipped in the manufacturers box which is inadequate. The box was torn and the jack along with manual rod was sticking out of the box. The rubber switch covers were loose and would not have provided any rain protection. After I installed it, it did not work. I took it apart only to find that multiple electrical connections to the switches had come undone. One was so loose that when I put it on it slipped back off with absolutely no effort. Also self tapping metal screws are used to hold the plastic housing to the unit. Metal shavings were all over the place and could've shorted out the unit. The quality control is piss poor. When someone pays close to $300 with shipping for a product they shouldn't have to take it apart and trouble shoot it themselves. I bet if I would've called in for support I would've been told to ship it back. I don't live in town to make a trip to the post office that easily and it takes time and gas.
I bought this unit because it was recommended to me. I may recommend it to others but not without first giving them a very firm warning about my experience and to expect the same.
I give this product 2 stars only because it appears to be a well made hefty unit that should now last a long time (I hope).

First of all I choose the barker because it is made in the USA and I am all for supporting American workers. Let me start by saying that when I got the jack the box was all smashed but had no viable damage to the unit. However after installing the jack the light was the only thing that worked. After re grounding re checking the battery and connections I came to the conclusion that the jack was at fault. So I called the tech support number on the directions. After being on hold for twenty minutes I decided to take matters into my own hands. So I tore it apart to find that several of the connections were not pluged in . Not very happy to say the least
