Atwood 50K BTU Tankless Water Heater Description

These water heaters provide a continuous hot water experience similar to that in your home, but are designed specifically for RVs.

Atwood on-demand water heaters are available in 45,000 and 50,000 btu models. These water heaters provide a continuous hot water experience similar to that in your home, but are designed specifically for RVs. Ultra high output burners are powerful enough to instantly heat and let you enjoy a full flow of continuous hot water. To operate, simply turn on the hot water all the way and then mix in cold to reach your desired temperature. The tankless design not only saves weight, but also saves energy by only using power when hot water is demanded.

Flex-fit flanges allow for an easy fit into the existing opening for most brands and sizes of RV tank or tankless water heaters.

*Professional installation is strongly recommended. (No Returns after Installation)*

ATWOOD should recall all OD-50 ON-DEMAND WATER HEATERS & REPLACE OR REFUND PURCHASE PRICES!!!!
Pretty much everything written above is pretty much my story too. I ordered a new pressure relief valve, because it kept going off. When I was replacing the pressure relief valve the water heater body or housing cracked. Come to find out, body or housing the pressure relief valve screws into, is some kind of plastic. Given the price, of this boat anchor, there was no way metal pressure relief valve should screw into plastic. So much for made in America, if it even is!!!

piece of expensive scrap metal
I purchased this water heater because of back and neck problems,I wanted to be able to take long, hot showers. After I installed the unit in my trailer it did not make hot water from the get go. I called atwood and spoke with customer service and they sent a new spring that I installed and the unit worked sporatically, sometimes if the campground water pressure was a little low it would not work right, sometimes I would get scalding hot water, sometimes cold water. Then just after the warrantee ran out the ignition module failed,I called atwood again and they replaced it even though the warrantee had expired. This kind of renewed my faith, the 2 months later I took another trip and the unit would not stop running, upon turning the switch on in the camper the water heater started running without any taps being turned on,shortly after that the pressure relief valve opened and nearly scalded someone sitting outside under the awning near the water heater. It then shut off on its own over temp sensor.Atwood should recll these units and refund all monies paid. SOMEONE WILL BE SEVERLY INJURED WITH THIS POORLY DESIGNED PRODUCT!!!

BIG Mistake!!!
Had this installed before I took delivery of my 2013 Jayco Eagle Travel Trailer. Had a tankless in my house and loved it! This water heater is a POS and I'm being nice. During three summers now I'll get the water just right, step into it and the water turns ice cold. Have to shut down completely and start the water over. This is throughout the entire shower. During the winter I don't add cold water because the water is 87 degrees at the kitchen sink. I just paid over $1,300 having the original make and model that the trailer came with installed. IMHO all tankless water heaters for RVs need to be taken off the market. A BIG mistake, overpriced, doesn't work as advertised and you can't dry camp with one unless you have a large fresh water tank and large gray water tanks.
