The RV WaterCheck™ test kit is a screening tool to detect sewage contamination in water.
This product will enable you to check the water in your holding tank to determine if it is safe to drink. This WaterCheck Test Kit can protect you and your family from serious illness or death. The test determines the presence or absence of coliform and E.coli bacteria, indicative of fecal pollution.
WaterCheck™ is sensitive enough to detect a single colony forming unit (cfu) per 100 ml of water. It is simple to perform, easy to interpret and requires minimal preparation.
RVers often fill up their tanks at campgrounds that have their own wells. These wells are not necessarily tested as often as they should be providing the opportunity for contaminated water to be put into the RV tank. Anyone using a well or treated water system is susceptible to contamination by human or animal waste. In addition, most RVers do not sanitize their tanks regularly and may not realize their tanks can be a breeding ground for disease. To ensure drinking water safety, health authorities suggest home, RV and boat owners test their water at least twice per year. Performing the WaterCheck™ test, will protect people from the dangers of pathogenic diseases such as Cryptosporidium, Entamoeba, Giardia and Typhoid fever.
WaterCheck™ is based on the unique ability of coliform bacteria to utilize specialized nutrients and reagents to form a distinctive blue-green color. The presence or absence of a single cfu of coliform/E.coli in water is an international standard measure to determine safe drinking water. If the water sample is contaminated with just a single cfu, a visible blue-green color will develop.
